“Mazinger Z,” known briefly as “Tranzor Z” in the US, is a Japanese super robot manga series written and illustrated by Go Nagai.

It follows an enormous super robot, constructed with a fictional metal called super-alloy Z, which is forged from a new element mined from a reservoir found only in the sediment of Mount Fuji, in Japan.

According to the ‘How Arabs View Japan survey’ conducted by Arab News and YOUGOV, 25 percent of respondents ranked “Mazinger Z” as their favorite anime of all time

“Mazinger Z” has spawned several sequels and spinoff series, among them “Great Mazinger,” “UFO Robot Grendizer,” and “Mazinkaiser.”

In 2019, it was announced that “Transformers” and “Mazinger Z” would crossover and a manga featuring the two franchises was released in March of the same year.

In 2001, the Japanese magazine Animage elected the “Mazinger Z” TV series the 11th best anime production of all time.
